Poor design on knobs

This cooktop was great when new. However, after about a year the first known broke and subsequently every knob broke after that. It is absurd that a replacement knob is $75 per knob. That is $450 for knobs. That is insane! I have never had a problem with knobs on a cooktop before. Add t this time I would not buy another Electrolux cooktop.

I have had this cook top for 5 years, I love cooking on it and the options of all the different burners are perfect especially with the simmer plate. However I find it very difficult to clean when stuff boils over around the burners and 5 of my 6 knobs have cracked on the inside which I feel making it difficult to know if the gas is turned off, I have tried replacing them but they are very hard to find.

I purchased this cooktop in December 2015. We really like the product. The one thing that is a problem is the knobs, they break easily. My wife and I are very careful users; however, we've had to replace at least four knobs at about $50 each. The knobs are quite fragile.

I bought this stovetop to replace the older version and love it! It™™s nice having the front edge to put things on in front of the burners. My last one was sloped in that area. The heat is evenly distributed under each burner and allows you to adjust the temperature easily. Very nice stove! Love it!

I have been using this cooktop for about 4 years now, which came together with a newly constructed home. After a few month. 3 out of six knobs broke. I called the warranty services, who responded that the knobs were not covered by the warranty as they were aesthetic, not functional parts. How ridiculous. I ended up spending $40+ per knob. Now, two of the burner do not ignite well, so I am waiting for the technician to come by. Fortunately I purchased the extended warranty as I knew something would happen.

Like most of the reviews here, I have problems with the knobs. It is a very poor design and they have not made any changes/improvements to the design.I contacted the customer service and all they told me is that they can offer me a 20% discount on replacement knobs. They sell for $109 a knob!!! So, the only option is to buy hundred dollar replacement knobs, that are just going to break again.

- equipment was installed by builder and the product came with defect that damages the top every time we move the grill- technician took 2 weeks to come after I involved builder and vendor- still no response regarding the replacement for this machine - equipment was installed by builder and the top rack hits the ceiling fan because the ceiling is damaged- technician took 2 weeks to come after I involved builder and vendor- scheduled to replace top of the product

We've been using our new cooktop for about 6 months. When its time to clean, it becomes a huge hassle to get the grates off and on to the top because they are too big for the opening. The edges of the cooktop are all scratched where the grates touch the stainless steel. Also the rubber feet fall out and get lost easily. The copper ranges are not easily removable and therefore very difficult to clean. The accessory griddle is also very difficult to clean and is not a non-stick surface.

I™™ve had this unit for 3 1/2 years and from the start the two power burners have been a problem. I have to blow on the burner when I turn on the gas just to get it to light. Also I have 3 broken knobs that are so expensive to replace! Very disappointing to say the least...

Bought a 36™ icon range a year ago and two of the six knobs have failed already. Looks like the plastic part inside the knob may have gotten hot and expanded. So now the knobs just spin freely without engaging.

Several of the knobs are pretty much nonfunctional. I have to constantly switch them to get burners to work. I have looked for the part that I think I need but have been unable to locate it anywhere. The appliances came with our new home.

Would be a 5 star product if the knobs were usable/reliable. Wonder if there is a better version of the knob available? I see there has been contact number posted when negative review, but nothing posted they™™ve made an improvement in design/quality of knob? Would be a great product if the knobs were as good as competitors products. Having to reorder or replace $40+ each time a knob falls off is aggrivating. Would love to repost something that this issue has been fixed through better quality knobs being available?

We bought a new house and the appliance package was through Electrolux. I really wish I had taken the appliance credit and bought my own. We had used the cooktop for a couple of months when the first knob broke. The knobs are unfortunately plastic in the area that counts. So I called and got a new knob. Now I have 5 that are cracked and one that is so bad I couldn't turn off the gas with it. Called and had to pay over 200.00 to get five knobs. Was told that the "next time" I would get them for free. How nice of them. They should fix the knobs for free since its their design flaw that makes them break. Plastic housings for a metal pin- and when it breaks sometimes you think you have the gas off and then realize that its not off and leaking out. Why rely on a cheap plastic housing for a metal pin. Especially one that controls gas.

I bought this in 2016. When it arrived, one of the knobs was broken. Retailer sent me a replacement knob (which they pulled off another appliance of the same make/model), but that arrived broken - because these knobs are so flimsy/poorly designed. The retailer was able to send me a brand new, unbroken knob, but since then, two more knobs have broken. I've been able to fix them with a shot of crazy glue and light pressure from a pair of vicegrips, locked on the stem for a few hours - but they inevitably break again. Replacement knobs cost $30 apiece. The stove itself is good. Burners are powerful and good, even if the ability to fine-tune the flame is a little lacking. I think the stove and ceramic top is easy to clean (For really baked-on messes, I use the Ceramabryte stove cleaning kit with the microfiber sponge and scraper - it cleans up well). Overall, I'm very disappointed with the purchase. I'd give this a four-star rating if the knobs were reliable, but as they are not, I can only rate this a one. I'm really hoping that Electrolux has updated the knobs and can send me new ones that will fit my appliance.

Love my stove but hate the knobs. I have problems with all 6 knobs cracking on the back side and the stainless plastic film around the outside starting to peel away and crinkle up. The first knob cracked after about 6 months and the rest started to crinkle after about 1 year. Looked up purchasing new ones and they are almost 50 bucks each. with a Cook top that cost this much the knobs should not be a problem. I find my power burners also don't put out as much heat as advertised 20k btu even after adjusting the settings with a mini screw driver per the instructions.

I see this is a common problem that Electrolux doesn't seem to address. I have one burner that I can't turn on at all and a couple others that will get to that point quickly. Cheap plastic insert on the back of the knob where it fits over the gas valve. I bought a new custom home and this appliance looks great but the function and apparent quality is far less than it should be. The knobs are junk and the two large burners on either side with the brass deflector are impossible to lite unless one of the other burners is lit first. If I remove the brass plate it ignites fine stand-alone but will not light with the brass overlay in place. Basically it has to jump the flame to the lit burner to light. This thing could be dangerous and seems to also need to be redesigned.

New house with all Electolux appliances. Very happy overall, except Cooktop knobs. We currently have two knobs that came off and now are non-funtional. Small plastic insert seems to be the issue. Have see similar posts about knobs. So definitely an issue. Again, outside of this very happy with unit.

Pros: By far the best control of gas flow I have ever experienced with a cooking surface. Cons: Knob design was an absolute fumble. Although the unit is only 14 months old, the control knobs are fragile and easy to break. I am down to 1 knob that is not broken.

I love the looks but its difficult to clean and when we clean the individual hobs placing them exactly the same (to ensure gas flow) is very critical to the T which becomes difficult. Its very easy for them to be a bit misaligned and the burner doest switch on or flame goes all over the place

This cooktop came with our new home and I am very impressed with its ability to hold temperature as you cook. It can hold a low, slow simmer for hours which allows the flavors in stews and sauces to develop without burning. You can also bring the temperature way up for a nice, even sear. I love this cooktop and would have a hard time cooking on other stoves from now on...consider me officially spoiled.

This is completely unbelievable. have this gas cooktop in a holiday home that we bought a couple of years ago. During that period, the cooktop has been used a grand total of 3 times. Today I discovered that the plastic piece holding one of the knobs to the metal stem has broken off. I went online and to my utter amazement find dozens of complaints about this exact issue. It also turns out that there are no reliable replacement parts available. I see all the nice canned messages from the manufacturer's representative, but there are no details about what to do next. I am totally at a loss since it is just a matter of time before the 5 other know also break off. Can someone at the manufacturer please HELP?!!!

Our cooktop is 2 years old, it was installed by the builder. First knob fell off after the first year and now we are missing three. Builders didn't provide manual and we don't have the model number for this cooktop; when the cooktop is installed the model number is not visible anywhere and finding replacement knobs without the number is impossible. I finally called the number on this website and because this is the only gas cooktop in icon series, I ordered three knobs for this one. $45 each. Hopefully it will fit and hopefully it is improved and will not need replacement every year.

How would a company make obviously flawed knob design and not at least make easily accessible quality replacements. I™™ve wasted time purchasing two different replacements and they don™™t fit... $150 and counting along with the time. To be clear... if you use the knobs they will eventually fail.

We have had this cooktop for only two years and most of the knobs are inoperable because the plastic behing the "stainless steel" knobs is cracking and the knows literally falling off when that happens.

we have this product the builder put in. From the very fist day most of the automatic igniters won't turn on, so we have been using the manual lighter. I am writing this review now because we were OK with that. But the plastic knobs are coming loose one after another. We would never recommend this product any one. Our model number is E36GC76PPS.

This is a very expensive appliance so you expect quality. We were terribly disappointed. 1) 3 of the 6 knobs broke within the first year. Electrolux refused to provide replacements. They cost $45 each to replace. 2) The flame are unequal and burn too high. We had maintenance come out to mess with the flame settings at least 4 times. Never fixed. We are very disappointed in both the product and the Electrolux customer service. I have 2 Electrolux fridges, 2 Electrolux ovens, and an Electrolux microwave, in addition to this stove. I am shocked at how horrible their customer service is and how horrible the company is with respect to standing for quality craftsmanship.

I have used electrolux/frigidaire appliances for about 20 years.Electrolux ICON is suppose to be top of the line. The knobs here are terrible and to make matters worse Electrolux refused to acknowledge that they are terrible parts. I find the customer service are simply excited to sell replacement parts to you.Truly disappointed!!!!!!

I like my cooktop it cooks nice and even. Looks good but.... huge BUT the knobs are so delicate they break super easy. All of a sudden they will fall off when you use it. My third just fell off and cannot be put back on. They are made of cheap plastic inside that cracks over time. After 6months they start to go. The knobs are $44 each to replace and this is becoming a real problem. Look at other reviews you will see the same complaint. I hope they come up with a better fix other than me spending $44 every few months. In the end I would not recommend this product because of the high cost to fix the knobs that are easily broke.

After about a year of use, I ran into the same issue as everyone else. The inner metal part of the knob won't stay in place so the knob is too loose to use. I'm worried that eventually all of them will fail and I will have a useless range. I really like the product when it was 100% functioning.

First one fell off after only 6 months, and then one by one the bottoms of them broke and they stopped holding onto the metal part underneath it! Its all made of cheap plastic and now after two years, we have only one left! One knob and six burners - I have to take out to move it around to the burners that i want to use for it to work. You cannot find replacement knobs out there, and definitely not at the dealers. Anyway, i am hoping to replace it with something better soon so this doesn't keep happening! Its a shame because the rest of the stove works quite nicely, but not much emphasis in design or budget was placed on the moving parts that you actually touch and feel every time you go to use the product! They just cut a corner and gave you these cheapo knobs! Shame.

Bought this range less than 2 years ago. It looks great and burners function decently but certainly not as good as many cheaper ranges ive used. The major problem which renders this range useless is cheap plastic knobs which split inside causing them to loosen and fall off. Apparently electrolux says it isnt a known problem even though every review on this site is about these knobs. Instead of replacing them free of charge or better yet recalling and designing a knob which isnt made of paper they offer you a 20% discount on 6 60$ knobs. Which you will have to replace once a year! 300 year charge to have the displeasure of using this frustrating product. A shame to ruin such a nice looking product with such cheap control knobs and terrible customer loyalty.
